Phoenix, 2011

Client: Exhibited at Gallery 34 in Yea, May 2013

Phoenix was the result of a collaboration with Ralf Driessen, a blacksmith based in Healesville. Ralf forged a beautiful steel setting for the piece and I kiln fired the image of a phoenix to go into it. I tried to capture the moment when the bird materialized out of the pure energy of the fire. The piece looks quite spectacular when caught in strong sunlight.
