The Revelation Cartoon 2017

This work was the result of a visit to the Holy Cave of the Apocalypse on the Aegean Island of Patmos. This was where the Book of Revelation originated through the visions of John of Patmos. I read the book and was immediately captured by its vivid imagery. Over time a powerful spiritual narrative emerged, one which resonated strongly with the social and moral issues of the present. As a visual artist , I felt compelled to join the ranks of my many predecessors in making contemporary art around the book’s narrative. I chose the cartoon format out of respect for the use of vivid imagery of the original.
